I have always used Pennzoil in my car since day one......but i always stick to oil changes every 3K

I was told Castrol was being used on my 94 when I bought it and I think im going to continue with it.

Your RPM change could be due to the viscosity breakdown of using the cheaper oil. Cheaper Oils probably have different temperatures at which they break down versus other oils or Synthetic which is formualted to withstand heat and produce less breakdown during operation.

Part of the testament to these engines is they will take tons of abuse. You haven't done everything wrong.

Pennziol and Fram will work, they merely have been proven to be lower quality than some other oil and filters.
Bosch plugs...They work..the question is, how long?..
Dirty engine..Ever hear that an oily mess of metal can't rust? It'* easier and cleaner to work on a clean motor though.

Ran through the ditch...and recently we had a member show us where he nearly went through a gate and brick column.
You replaced your alternator with the same part that was on their before..nothing wrong with that.

actually it did it the first 5 mins after the new oil change after the frma filter and the pennzoil HM

oil should have nothing at all to do with RPM at a speed.

The engine is directly hooked (minus torque converter) to the transmission, the gears are hardened metal.

The only real slippage that can change at speeds that you mention would be TCC or torque converter clutch. And if this is giving you issues, it'* nearly transmission time.

I exclusively ONLY use Castrol in all my cars. The Firehawk gets Castrol Syntec.

IMO, Castrol is a very good, affordable oil. As for oil filters, I always aim for a Purolator. If they're not available, I go for an AC Delco. If they're out of those, I'll run a Fram.

I figure if Fram were that bad, they'd be out of business by now. :? For the one-offs that I use them, I'm sure there'* no harm done. Minimal, if any.

That said, I like the Wix. I'll take a stock A/C Delco, too. The Arvin Meritor'* are not far behind. I'll use a coffee filter and a rubber band before I put a Fram in my car.

That article that I mentioned earlier (and am too lazy to look for) said that FRAM made one "good" filter, when compared to the other companies....
