CERAMIC pads WILL eat up your rotors...if not adjusted

unless you like replacing your brake rotors every 6 months then I'd reccomend some high performance rotors (the expensive kind that you need to order online, slotted would be optimal IMO)
I'm running CERAMIX CMX7384 version pads...they are around $80 for a set.
I'm on rotor set number 3 in 6 months. the first rotors were whatever Les Schwab uses, they lasted 3 weeks but were old anyway, the 2nd set was the Raybestos PG Plus, these were $50 a piece and carried a 3 month warranty.
5 months later the Raybestos are so warped that I get SEVERE steering wheel movement, I'd guess the steering wheel vibrates around 2 inches, the entire car shakes bad. The rotors have stress cracks all the way around on both sides.
And yes they only had a 3 month warranty. Boom 100 bucks gone.
this time I got the $26 AUTOZONEs with the 1 year warranty and we'll see how long they last.
The moral of the story is if you go with Cermaic pads, either dish out the money for high end rotors or get some with a LONG warranty. I've learned the hard way..I think..I'm curious how long the autozone rotors will last with the ceramics..
Either way CERAMICS are noticablly better no brake dust and they stop much better than metallics.
Oddly enough the pads also have stress cracks in them now (VERY) hard to see..I'm getting the pads replaced under warranty since they are not supposed to crack that early..when they loose half the pad, then yes cracking may be normal but these pads have maybe 1/8th of the material gone.
Basically the point of the story is that I think slotted pads would keep the heat down and the pads would not crack and the rotors would not warp. Oh well. For new rotors and pads only cost me $50 total, so if they last 6 months I'm fine with that.
I am a bit on the agressive driving side....and there are also a lot of mountains and such around here and I choose to use my brakes rather than overheat my transmission going down the mountain passes.
edited title to make the thread goal more clear.

Sounds like you have a Speed problem, or a Hard braking problem
I never herd someone have so many problems with rotors before with in 6 months
All i can say is when i go to change all my stuff again im going to do what Wren did or what boosty did.
Iv see how boosty drives and been with him and his brakes seem to last a while.
also if you buy good rotors right off th ebat then you wont have this problem.
The AutoZone cheapo $26 arnt going to last you long either.
Edit*
At advance Auto get the
Bendix Brake Rotor
Warranty: 2 Year Replacement Warranty
$57.77 each

We dont have advance auto here..we have shucks/carquest/napa/autozone
I'm not sure if the Bendix would last any longer than the 1 year warranty autozone ones I have on right now.

I may just adjust to make them rub a bit this time around to see if that helps anything.
ive been running napa drilled/slotted and hawk pads for a year now....no warp lots of pad left It was worth the the $200 I spent trust me NO brake fade after 100 mph+ stops
and no autozone rotor will give you that

Hans... Please, THINK about what you are saying and the effect it might have on newbies etc.
I put up a thread on brakes and how to enhance our stock brakes with some easy simple and reasonably priced pads/rotors. I've had Bendix ceramics on the car with Bendix rotors for close to a year without a single problem.
Remember the hot laps I did at the track, time after time with little to no cool down I sped up to nearly 100mph and then hopped on the brakes hard to slow before the turn off. I maintain that I drive quite hard and beat the brakes..not daily...but continually.
If you are warping rotors like you mention, either you are riding the brakes too long and heating them past their abilities or something else is drastically wrong.
Ceramic brakes are most likely not your problem, the problem is either the driving style, vehicle or quality of rotor you are using. Are your calipers holding? Maybe the rubber brake hoses are coming apart and holding the calipers?

Found the thread, it'* good reading and info if you have the time.

If you want to run premium pads, run premium rotors. You get what you pay for.
I drive the Zilla hard. And multiple track passes/braking in the heat of summer are hell on brakes. But my powerslots and ceramic pads are holding up very well.
