I would like to get this done, but when is a totally different issue. I was wondering if it was easy or not to somehow recharge my own a/c or would i have to take it somewhere to get it done. I know i'd have to buy freon, but is it even possible to do myself?

In my part of the world you have to have a liscense to buy freon. Something to do with ending the earth as we know it.

you can still buy the stuff on the black market, but its d***ed expensive. Better have your system converted to R134-a

If you drive to MI, I'll recharge your R-12 for $45 per pound!

I still have a 30 lb. jug of R-12 for the 79.

A little off topic, but what does it take to convert to r134? I thought you had to replace some A/C components, but now I am confused.

i know they have this stuff called Freeze 12 down here...it'* r134 that car run through a r12 system...you do it yourself with a kit and it is OZone Friendly. I used it in my skylark till i converted it. It actually blew at freezing 30-35 degrees!!!!!!

You really need some pressure gauges. Also you may want to find the leak or else it will all leak out again. Your car uses the expensive R-12.
