Is it really worth the 399/yr for onstar?

If you travel a lot and can't stand the compass redesign, then yeah, I Iike Onstar. I have the upgraded package so I just call 'em and they tell me how to get to whatever destination I ask for. The hands free carphone is nice when I'm in NY as it is a no phone to your head state.

OnStar is only $199 a year for the basic *&* plan. However the cost per min is excessive.

The per minute cost is a lot from OnStar but a minute sharing plan is available. In the US, OnStar partnered with Verizon Wireless and in Canada with Bell Mobility. I pay $18.00/Month CDN and I can use either my handheld cell phone or my OnStar phone. Minutes from both are shared on my single plan. It'* only available with digital equipment though and was the biggest reason I upgraded from analog.

My Aunt has an '01 SE with onstar, can't she have the whole system like redone or would that cost to much?
