Default Bump Steer...

I have a '74 C-10 SWB. It just recently had a ground up overhaul. I'm talking a new built stroker 454, built 700R4, new interior, new electronics, everything. Any ways, the suspension is all new but since I rebuilt it it has wicked bump steer. In other words when I go down the ride and the right front hits a rough spot in the road it launches my truck to the left. It also tends to oversteer in corners. To the point of white knuckling it. Could my sway bar be too large? It'* a one ton sway. My suspension is all 3/4 ton suspension, do to ride height and weight of the motor. I just want to eliminate the bump steer. It'* driving me crazy!

Have you had the alignment checked?

Ya, I've actually had several alignments. Long story short I had a bad brake line that was screwing up my brakes and after replacing 75% of the braking system we figured it out. lol Any ways, it'* pretty low. I have 2" drop spindles in front and lowered the rear about the same. My headers are maybe an inch off the ground. I suspect my sway bar is causing it, 'cause it'* so stiff, but I rather keep it and adjust the suspension to fix it.

bump steer can be an issue if u dont have enough suspension travel, are u sure u are experiencing bump steer? just because it pulls when hitting bumps does mean 100% u have bump steer. Bump steer is a change in toe in as the suspension travels. U may also be feeling a twitchy front end from tie rods, incorrect susp components, ect

I don't know if you have bump stops, but on a Ranger we lowered we had a similar problem and we removed the bump stops to give another inch or so of extra suspension travel.

Are your tie rod rods at an angle?
