Then I wouldn't even consider negotiating price. I'd try to negotiate the other one down in price. This time of year should give the buyer an edge. just my .02. : )

I think some dealers are not willing to accept the unfortunate reality that these cars are not in high demand, did not sell well to begin with, and are dropping in value like stones. It'* a shame for such a cool car, but that'* how it goes. I found a brand new one in Arkansas with everthing I want. Dealer won't go below $27,000. Of course, doing this over the phone probably doesn't convey a serious tone by the buyer who'* 200 miles away.

Also considering you said both cars are very close to the same other than interior color, you can use the other car as a bargaining tool.

Yish...I agree, taupe inside a black car is pukey. I drove 2 black 2000 SSEi'* before I found my black SLE, which has pewter leather. The two black Ei'* had the taupe leather, and I just couldn't get my head around it...I disliked it that much. I am SO happy I held out until I found the perfect car for me. I say, get what you WANT!!!!
