2.84 is uncommon in a Bonneville, but not unheard of. That'* the weak-*** LeSabre ratio.

Your car was probably specifically built for Hertz or Enterprise.

jr's3800 has one as well. His 95 was a rental car.

Changing tranny gears? Unless you have done tranny rebuilds in the past it'* not something anyone should undertake. Anytime you crack into the transmission case you better know 100% what you're doing.

Yup, I have what used to be a National Rental car... my code was BQ0, I got that info from Pontiac in 03 I think... But mine does have the 3.06 ratio
Do all rental cars have that number? the BQ0?

If it came down to changing the gear ratio, how far into the transmission are we talking? Forget the PCM issues, just strictly mechanical -- i can R&R transmissions all day long or open them up to replace solenoids, but to get any deeper than the valve body is still Greek to me. I'm curious because I had a hell of a time trying to find a 3.06 trans for mine, and I'm going to need another transmission by the end of the year. If it were just a matter of swapping something fairly straightforward, I'd pick up a 2.84 and swap parts.
