Atleast mine runs... = P
Since everyone else has been posting their projects and the destruction leading up to them, here is mine. As the title says, at least mine runs!
:razz1 Still have no time or money to throw at it and probably won't for a while. http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y39...128_152056.mp4 |
Now that's uncalled for. By the way, your missing part of your car.
|
It's a weight advantage at the track! I don't have to take my headlight out either.
|
no he's not. they are sitting at your place LOL
|
There's no need for all of that.
|
wanna sell your trunk :D
|
Wanna sell the front left corner of your car? = P
|
Mine's now is pieces spread all over the shop.
|
diddo!
|
You are starting to sound more and more like Bill every day. = P
|
Scary aint it?
|
I need to go to the parts store but have no car to drive there!
ARGH! |
That sucks. At least I have my truck. Man am I glad I picked that up.
|
This tears it, I'm buying another car THIS WEEKEND!
|
I'm glad I picked up a second Bonneville. Also glad Dan's figuring all this Cam stuff out so he will be a pro when it comes time to do mine = P
|
I will tell you this. If your planning to do any more then light modding, get a second car. There comes a point when the line between driving and breaking is very thin.
I've swapped a hand full of cams now, it's not that hard. Just a PITA when it's still in the car. But I've got the hoist and stuff, so dropping the sub frame and then lower the engine is a snap. But it's a all day job. |
I like my Rocker set up for now, and would be very happy with the SSEi if I got a GenV and some headers on it. Needs injectors to, last I checked I was hitting 98% on them.
Still gets great gas mileage, same as the SLE it would seem (granted that's premium fuel in the SSEi) but the way I see it no matter what gas prices are you are still paying only 20-30 cents more per gallon, same as always. |
I'm tired of buying premium...
Nows a good time for E85 since I'm already detonating! |
Hey..both of mine run.. actually all three of mine run.
Bonne runs until that bad t stat overheats it (tough fix eh) Regal runs even with the dying trans...she is my DD Truck runs.. never a question....LIKE a FRIGGIN ROCK :thumbup2 |
you all complain like highschool girls
mine caught on fire! which was normal according to GM... now who got a bigger problem :D

you really should make me a good setup, like really! lol |
What's the hold up on the t stat swap Bill? I know you've got a spare sitting around somewhere..
Sam, if you are really interested in getting something done I can make some recommendations unless you plan on shipping the GXP to the states? I don't know how they feel about shipping spontaneously combusting cars cross borders though... |
Bill is waiting for a write up on how to swap a thermostat.

That was actually the plan when we did mine to make a template. The problem is there is much more than just panels to do. I'm sure you've seen the teardown pictures of my car. The entire inside came out, lots of sound deadening and wiring went in, many things were modified/bolted in. The panels are more of a finishing touch.
|
yeah i agree, i wish i have the skills and the time for this

It's true, I'm considering swapping the thermostat while I'm doing the trans.
The hold up. Well procrastination mostly. I'm putting the finishing touches on a large home remodel (3 rooms and hallway), girl friend is nearly moved in (although the next couple weeks she'd helping family), and my AAA card is itchin to get used. Odometer is at 179,3xx, something says I should push it to 180,000 and then put the trans in. Overall though, there's simply a large pile of projects on my list and good guys like Steve (SGP) have been waiting on me too long for stuff. |
I figured by now you'd be able to pull into the gas station, start the nozzle, and have the thermostat swapped before the tank was full.
It's too bad there is no quick way to drain the coolant without making a big mess... or is there? I still need to get the SLE into the shop and pull the coolant elbows again to see if the thicker gaskets and a little rtv seal it up. |
That's easy. Open the radiator cap, and turn on the shop vac. Suck a little out and your all set.
As for swapping a thermostat, the Fiero is the best in the world for this. Just turn a cap that looks like a radiator cap, pull it out, and stick the new one in. Done. Not kidding, 30 second change. |
I don't believe you, buy me a Fiero so i can see for myself. :D
|
I want one myself. I had a 84, bought it new. Wanted to check the coolant level and thought that was the radiator cap. What's this? Wow, the thermostat. Cool. Why can't the use that on other cars.
|
hey Jonpro hehehe i have one sitting her its and 84 or 85 for $450 heheheh
|
Pics are a must!
|
will get them friday or saturday LOL
|
My Fiero project has been put on hold. I'm sad now.
|
My shop vac cringed at taht one... coolant...ewww I use a simple siphon to pull some out. Takes no time at all to swap a t stat, but I haven't taken the time or charged the battery etc.
Weather hasn't been ideal, I've been working. Heck the other week I did 3 header installs. Didn't really care for looking at another car that week. |
hehe, just pokin Bill. The way things are going here I haven't had much spare time either. I was seriously interested in a cleaner way of draining the coolant though. Siphoning a little out works for the thermostat, but what about the coolant elbows? I've been popping the lower Rad line off and draining it that way which makes quite the mess. I'm with you on the shop vac, I've got two nice shopvacs I don't want to subject to the coolant treatment. The one I leave the dry filter on and use for vaccuming the car regularly, and the other is still brand new in the box... it's smaller than the first and both are brand new.
If I ever get that nice big garage I've been dreaming about I'll have to get a big dirty shop vac that I won't mind sucking coolant with. |
Less about thermostats, MOAR about Fieros!
|
What do you think this is, burger king?
Just to humor you though... Dan, your Fiero project is on hold because SSExi overheard you talking about it and got jealous. She is now doing her darndest to make sure you spend every spare moment on her! |
