Anyone still running a 195 T-stat?

I fall into that lazy group...

Also .... it gets really cold here in the winter... and I need all the extra heat I can get. In the summer... it'* rare for a day to be +28c... and summer only lasts 3 months (June/July/August). I wish I lived in Florida, or Texas or somewhere... no more winter...no snow... no ice... no salt... I hate the salt most of all.

I'm lazy as well, I will get it soon though. I hope this doesn't make me a bad guy.

Mine is still 195
I haven't done it yet because I just found this place and haven't had my Bonne that long.
And as stated the 180 will only open up sooner but not necessarily make/let the car run cooler. My experience says that your coolant system must be running properly in the first place. Then the fans need to come on at the lower temp or you have high air flow going through the radiator some how i.e. driving faster than say normal or a modification of some sort

But I still will be installing a 180 t-stat and some how changing the fans to come on at 180.

My 2 bits

Just bought my '00 Bonnie SSEi,....I'll be leaving the 195* stat in the car.I don't see any advantage in using a 180 or ,heaven forbid,a 160*stat....car was designed with a 195 stat(as are all the GM cars),...designed optimal running temp for emissions system, spark plugs,etc..Temp gauge has NEVER climbed above the 200*mark ....OR dropped below the 200* mark, for that matter(but that is another strange issue that I've posted about, and haven't been able to figure out just why...never seen a car'* temp gauge that'* done that?),..definately need the warm heater factor during the Upstate NY Winters.IMO,can't see where a 15* drop/lowering of the cooling system will make any kind of noticable difference as far as performance goes.....so I'll be keeping the 195 stat

It was stated in earlier posts by GM mechanics that running the 180 stats will benefit the engine. The Plastic Upper intakes will last longer if you do that. Also it helps cool down the Supercharged cars because we don't have a stock intercooler.

I changed out mine and if just takes 5 minutes longer for the engine to get to temperature and she doesn't spike as hard on warm days in traffic. If it'* 100 out though, i still get up to about 210.

I too fall into this category. I have a new 160, but haven't taken the time to install it. I'm also swapping out the pulley on my SC as well.
