Default Another "what'* it worth"

Well, consulting the experts again.

Looking at a 1997 Bonneville SSEi (black on black).

It'* high milage -294,000 Km (182,600 Mi).

According to the add "In the last year, the car has had brand new brakes (all around, as well as a couple new lines), wheel bearings (front), alternator, starter, and a few odds and ends here and there put on it. This car has never been raced"

He'* asking $2,500, or best reasonable offer.

I would have two main concerns with that... the tranny, and the suspension. And probably the LIM gaskets. I just dropped a good chunk of change on the '96 redoing the suspension, I really don't want to do it again. From the pics the body looks like it'* in excellent condition.. definetly something I'd go and do a thorough inspection on though.

I'm thinking of offering $2,000 if it'* in good shape. What do you guys think?

My '96 runs great so I'm in zero hurry whatsoever. I have a tossup of going for an older SSEi (of which I love the looks WAY more), vs. the more expensive but probably less problematic newer ones.

Thats too much i personally wouldn't buy it with another thousand or 2 you could probably buy a 2000 thats ready to go rather than buying one thats getting ready or already kicking the bucket. So for short hold out on that and keep looking but thats just me.

You guys must be able to get Bonnies real cheap in the US. I have yet to see a 2000+ Bonneville (that isn't a pile of scrap) for less than 5k.

Check the brake and fuel lines and if the fuel lines are rotted, the fuel sender may also be bad.

I agree, nothing over $1000 for the car. MIles are so high unless it was flawlessly maintained and only driven easy on the highway.... it is a very tired car. If you have $2500 to spend, be patient- you may find a car with half the miles.

I'm with the $1000 or under. To old/monster miles/bad suspension @182k(unless you believe in miracles)/the ever to wonder LIM problem. Even though a 2000 is only 3 years younger, there are key differences that sway the pricing. From what you are describing here, the car probably wouldn't make a pass on the auction block here. If it made it, it would fetch $300-500 and be used for a taxi.
