Does anyone know how easy it is to bypass the PassKey systems on some Bonne'*? I'm trying to determine is it worth it for me to get an alarm, or it the PassKey system enough? I'm only interested in starter kills right now, anything worth stealing from my car will take damn near an hour to get out.
Thanks
Thanks
I have heard the Passkey setup is pretty good. I do not have it on my car so this is only what I have heard from other people. I figure if a true thief wants it they will take it with or without an alarm.
PassKey uses a resistor implanted in the ignition key to verify the key'* authenticity. If the computer sees the wrong resistance, the starter and fuel systems are disabled for a few minutes.
I'm sure there'* a way around it -- there'* always a way to do anything. Perhaps the easiest way around the system is with a tow truck
. However, in my opinion, PassKey should be effective against the casual criminal.

I have a Viper 600HF on my '95 SSE. They bypassed the Passkey system with a special module from Viper, so that the car can be remote started. They took a reading of the resistance passing through my key, and I think they programmed it into the module, so the car would think my key is in only when I want to remote start. I've had it for 2 years now with no problems at all.

I'm trying to figure out whether or not its worth the investment to get an alarm (the Hornet 700T). The 700T is nice because it upgrades your remote keyless remotes, so when you push Lock the alarm arms, and disarms when you push unlock. I know someone who really wants to steal it is going to, the theory is the harder it is the less likely it is that they will try, or more likely they'll give up once they've started.

Okay, for all of you with the factory alarm system. Do you have a little light that flashing on your dash, near the windshield? I have a little *** there that looks like it should be flashing, but it isn't. I'm just wondering if it is broken. On a side note, its not my twilight sensor, that is next to the hud, this *** is in the center of the dash.

The little *** in the center of the dash is the solar sensor for the climate control.
As far as I know, there are no flashing lights to indicate that the factory alarm system is armed. However, the factor CD player has a flashing "TheftLock" light for its internal security.
