To turn all of the accessories in my car on, I have to turn the ker to "on." It won't go backwards, towards me. How do I fix this? Is this right?

Are you pushing the ignition switch in while turning backward? If so, then no, it'* not right.

It won't turn backwards at all. I have to push it forward to "on," and then back to off to turn the accessories on.

I've tried about everything to get that thing to turn backwards.

Is your steering wheel torque locked?

Otherwise you need a new cylinder i believe.

Try wiggling the steering wheel a little while gently turning the key back.
If that doesn't do it, then it'* definitely a bad/weird lock cylinder.
