Default About to Order

Today I put in a 180* stat and I am about to order a pcm from intense, but I have some questions. I have a CAI right now and I plan on doing more down the road. From what I gathered from my search this is a generally good route to go for a n/a engine. I just want to make sure that I am not doing the pcm too early? And this might be funny to some, but where the hell is it located?? is there a writeup for this??

IMO - I wouldn't worry about the PCM right now. A CAI and a 180T stat really don't warrant spending the money and having a PCM reprogrammed.

When you open the exhaust, change the valve train, replace the TB and upgrage the MAF.....by all means YES.

Upgrading the PCM will however change the shift points, as well as a few other changes. On a NA engine these are all minor changes, other then shift points. Doing it now is not to early, but. There are other areas you can look in to first. What year is your car? The PCM should be located by your air filter box.

You should be fine with out an upgraded PCM. Like Dan said it changes shift points But you really don't want to be changing shift points till you upgrade your valve train. What year car do you have cause if you have? In 80 series trans the 7 vane pump doesn't like the high revs.

Get everything up to date, plugs wires, check the coils. A shift kit is a option, that way you can change the fluid and filter and that'* done.

You said you have a 97, that should have the 4t65e transmission. Bill and I both make a super easy shift kit for those. As for plugs, it'* a bit more open being a NA engine, but I like to recommend the autolite copper plugs. I think stock is 606, but 605 should be fine. They are cheep, only about $1.50 each.

He has an 4t60e cause it'* an SE. But we can make up a shift kit from you. Plugs is a good option. Anything that would go with a good tune up. Fuel filter check the fuel pressure. clean maf. A big chore over looked is take off your TB and clean it.
