Default 94/95 differences?

My uncle finallly came over today with his 95 SSEi and I noticed his dash says 6000 for the redline, whilst, mine says 5500. I do know that the 94/95 engine is exactly the same along with the trans. Can I swap out my 94 computer for the 95 so it will shift at 6k? Or am I not pushing it hard enough and it does shift at 6k?

It'* probably do to the L36 coming out that year. It has an extended rev. You really don't want to be winding a ser1 L67 out to 6k. Its way past peak power. 6k is even pushing it for a stock L36.

Yup, that definitly due to the introduction of the L36.

BUT, why is the 6k redline on the SSEi'* dash? Just because of a computer change?

its because with the Series2 the shift was at 6k it has nothing to do with the computer....they made one cluster and used it

Pontiac went to the 6k dash in 95 as all of the SE/SLE and SSE 95 Bonnies had the 3800 Series II L36 which wound out to 6000... So all of the 95'* regaurdless of engine all had the 6k redline on the tack...

We should shift at about 5900 in the L36, But I think the PCM'* were a tad funky with programming and updates...

But yes it should have a 5600 redline on the 94 and 6000 on the 95'*
