Exactly. This was brought out earlier and it'* true. He knew the risks, or at least he does now... ...I have a strong tendency to be empathetic toward ones when something less-than-pleasurable happens... ...I even feel bad for him for getting beaten by a grocery-getter...

If your tranny is slipping, then CATCHES, it'* HELL on the differential.

I get the same effect sometimes with the tire siping. It used to spin, then gradually gain traction (with good new tires), now it spins a little, then CATCHES very quickly. I can actually hear and feel my differential getting hammered. I'm learning to 'feel' for that catch, and let off the rpm'* just before it grabs.

... A VW new Beetle got pulled over when my dad was trying to catch up to it on the highway... I wasn't there, but probably the race didn't last long enough to determine a result. Big "oh ****" reaction from my dad when it happened, but he got off fine.

Not to mention the output shaft. Since the clutches are all wore out in the GTP it slips and then catches, and it has already ruined the differential. It is definately not something you want to allow to happen all the time. It isn't cheap to fix a tranny.

I'm considering selling my Bonne after the 6 year warrantee, before my tranny fails........$3,500 US = $5,000 Cnd + labour.
I know by then it will be putting out 300+ hp.......damn GM for not installing a better transmission.
We have done that trick before even in our industry. Go cheap by reducing the factor of safety for a gearbox to well below normal....meaning a lighter duty unit. This usually results in increased maintenance during its life cycle......... It gets the project in on time and on budget but the bottom line is unhappy customers who have to pay more in the long run.

When I had the 350 TurboHydramatic rebuilt in my Firebird it only cost $1,000. and that included a new torque converter and HD components. (Took out a few teeth on my first gear planetary set during a "performance run" a few years ago).

Bump.....

So, even though my tranny was trashed, I smoked an i-Vtec. Anyone care to wave the BS flag on me? I know I'd smoke him now with the new tranny...
