I dont want to sound like a dick, but all of the muscle cars came with shitty engines like inline-6 (maybe even 4s ?) in base cars (at least for camaros when they were introduced. I know they have V-6s now.). They need to produce the slower cars because not enough people would buy a hard-core sports car. The car will seem more appealing to a broader customer base if it is cheaper, looks fast, and will be very drivable. The companies need sales from the weak cars to justify selling the hi-po models. only a third or less of camaro sales in a year are z28'*. Even fewer are ss models.

that'* just how i see the whole situation, i may be wrong though

I worded that badly. The point I meant to get across was you don't ever hear guys talking about their 4 or 6 cyl muscle, although some of the slant sixes were nice, I've only heard loving talk about Ford'* Boss engines and Dodge Hemi'*. Car companies are getting back to those roots finally of a trim level that out does the rest.
I shook the tree and had some oranges fall on me.

3800 = 231 cubic inch

I'm not fond of the V-6'* in domestic muscle cars, but hey...its for sales.

If it was an lx then I'm guessing it was an 87-93 notchback. These are the fastest 5.0'* you can get simply because of their light weight. It may have been an auto but while you guys are talking about 6 cylinders in mustangs. This car that he raced didnt even have an option of coming from the factory with a v6. Only a 2.3L 4cylinder or the 5.0.
Ask the Stang expert !!!
