im doing an L67 swap and i have an engine but i need to get a tranny. i found one from a 200 gtp with a 3.29 gear ratio, that means quicker acceleration, right? what do most of the other L67 guys have? is it a good ratio?

I thought that all L67'* had the same ratio which was either 2.97 or 2.93. I think it was 2.97 though... The NA 3800 can have the 3.29 ratio though. In fact, it'* the ratio I have. It does decrease gas mileage slightly, but, the acceleration is much better compared to the 3.06 ratio.

My 3.33 ratio (only a 1990-1991 SSE thing) makes for snappier performance, but yeah, fuel mileage suffers. I'd be surprised if I got anything more than 30mpg on the highway, but I haven't done any formal calculations yet. Just rough guesstimations based on the gauge.

'04+ Comp G GTP'* were the only L67 car to ever see 3.29'* stock. 2.93'* is what all the other GTP'*. I would bet that if it has 3.29'* its either not from a GTP OR its from a GTP with a built trans...which in that case means its likely to be a built trans.

I just bought a trans for my car the other day being that my trans is shot with the 3.29 final drive ratio. Its from a 2000 + GPGT. I will gladly accept better accleration in return for a slight decline in gas mileage.

you will have a problem with the PCM if you dont sent it to intense or the like to get reprogramed...

The bonneville trans is slightly different than the gtp trans in regards to a few line connectors and an internal mode switch as opposed to an external mode switch. I believe the changeover year for the mode switches was 2000.

I plan on purchasing a custom PCM from intense to avoid any problems.
