well i went to the dealer and the salesman said it was $21.995. i told him i saw it the paper for $17.995. he said he checked with his boss and $18,995 was the lowest they would go. this salesman was a total richard noggin ! i hated the guy from the moment he introduced himself and so did my wife. i didnt even bother test driving it i was so disgusted. he acted like i was wasting his time. kept pointing me to the grand prix'* and saying how i wouldnt find a better deal anywhere else. i think i will keep looking for a bonneville but i think i am going to have to look HARD. not too many for sale.

I was offered a deal for a BRAND NEW 05 GXP for 19k recently. Local dealer.

65 miles on the ticker. And I put about 25 of those on it.

Every Pontiac dealer seems to have an Enterprise Rent A Car fleet of base GPs, practically impossible to find good used GTPs or GXPs

So TRUE! Every GP I was interested in before I bought my Bonneville was a spit-shined rental, as if they could desguise the 20-25k of abuse and torment. And finding a high end model is almost a waste of time. I just happen to be really really lucky that my dream car (below) was availabe and a great bargain. I do feel for you though, nothing is worse than going to a car dealer and being totally turned off by nasty sales person. My advice is to keep an eye out for an SSEi, eventually one will come up.

well i have only looked at it so far. i drive an ssei everyday so i will be able to make a good comparison. gas milage would be one downside to the v-8. :?[/quote

Actually, my Aurora V8 gets right around the same mileage as the SSEI. In mixed driving, they both average about 22-23 mpg.

You have a different engine than the GXP. Our GXP owners are seeing much lower numbers.

I had the same thing on price. I asked the price just to see what response I would get and the salesman told me like $2k more than it was advertised for online. He tried to tell me that the guy that does the internet stuff often gets prices mixed up. Yeah right. He was a great guy to deal with though.

Please note my comments above are based on the experience of two known runs on the track, INTENSE'* dyno work, and my own experience driving a GXP. My comments are not meant to be negative in any way, but are rather put out there for the benefit of a potential buyer.

Back on topic, I bought a car once also like that. They'd swapped prices between two cars in a newspaper ad. I held them to it. They're bound by law to honor what they advertise.

Actually I don't think they are bound by law. We had this discussion back when I was in a business law class in college. An advertisement is basically just an offer, not a binding contract on price.
