2001 3100 going in 99 3400 is it possable
Hello I have a 2001 Malibu with 3100 v6 runs great but body rusty. now I just bought a 99 alero with 3400 has bad engine. The question is " is it compadable" iKnow it will bolt up im really just talking about wiring thanks
ps im wanting to put 3100 in alero

There is a lot to putting a different size engine in different car. There could be sensor differences brackets fuel pcm wiring, and not likely anyone going to do it because getting the right one is cheap

right off the bat , I think they both use different transmissions. I would say that the 3.4 uses a 4T65E and the 3.1 a 4T40E , besides The only one who could successfully do the swap is Johnny Cash and he is dead.

I disagree, the engines are nearly identical other than the displacement. The only issue I can see is the PCM might not like the added CFM is sees from the MAF sensor.
