Default 2.5 resonator

I gotta quick question. I'm going to the junkyard for a friend to get a resonator for his bonnie. His exhaust piping is 2.25 and I wanted to know if it would hurt if used a 2.5 resonator if no 2.25 resonator couldn't be found?

If you cut enough pipe off in front of and behind it can be done but your going to create a reverse bottleneck of sorts going from 2.25 to 2.5 to 2.25 so i think it would hurt flow a little bit.
