So it seems that nearly every model year of the modern FWD bonneville, there are at LEAST a couple changes, the GXP is the only one that stands out to me as not having any. Are there ANY differences between 04 and 05 GXPs besides their vin numbers? it sort of seems like they gave up. just gave the GXP some 5 spokes and called it an SLE... no changes? If you don't know exactly what I mean..

few examples... (obviously an abridged list)

88 - SSE trim added, new engine on the LE
89 - tons more options added (IIRC), LG3 dropped
90 - tail lights changed, small engine changes
91 - new ABS system
92 - body change, engine change, totally new design (obviously), ssei, airbags, etc
93 - got back its EGR, int trim changed, added SLE package
94 - changed diagnostics
95 - new N/A engine
96 - ext changes, new L67, int changes, etc
97 - new HD transmission
98 - new LD transmission
99 - not many changes...umm, new colors...
00 - new design, inside and out
01 - new centercaps on swoopies (not a good change either), i know theres more than that.
02 - new bumper cover on SE, new wheels, SOMETHING was made standard...can't remember
03 - redesigned leather seats, new exhaust tips on SLE and SSEi
04 - GXP added, for the first time, it now has 3 different front bumper covers, new engine, etc
05 - SLE changed to GXP with 5 spokes

just curious if ANYTHING changed...i'd be happy to know if they changed the SPRAYER that applied the paint.

first off,

02 was the first year of the revised exhaust tips, and the first year of the 17" N89 chrome 5 spokes. 02 also got a cup holder desigh change, and the seated seat buttons and the Trac buttons moved to under the climate conrtoll

in 03 they gave the Trans better and hardend internals, and the HUD became an OPTION for the first time ever with the WA6 package, 03 was also the first year that XM radio was offered as a factiory installed option

and yes are differences between the years, and how to identify them

04 had the second generation XM that used a different roof mount antenna, and still used a glass mount ONStar system, the 04'* also not utlitize all black buttons and switches instead of the common grey

05 had the all in one roof mount antenna, that combined the XM and the ONStar in one commonly called the shark fin

Are you talking about the GXP? I have an 04 and I have black buttons and the sharkfin.

That is a great list from an observation standpoint without digging deep. Although there were always changes under the dash and behind the scenes as well as programming etc.

For example the pcm changed in (probably early years), 92,93,94,96 and 98 to a different design.

Do you have a build date on your GXP? I ask because my 04 has the two antennas.

Build date is early (June of 04 I think) but I don't have it with me.

I am confused. I have the two antennas, the one on the back window and the sharkfin. Do 05'* only have the sharkfin?

I definitely have the black buttons.

June of 04? Thats LATE. They're already making the 05s by then I would think.

And pat, thats interesting, I didn't know that. Also, theres some other option with umm, the side airbags too I think? didn't they come standard after 01 or something? or maybe it was that they became optional...maybe it was 03

Oh and also, yeah, I forgot about the revised valve body and changed internals in the 03, I knew it, just forgot to add it.

No 95? Does that relate to the 95 having its pcm issues? And most owners having to carry a spare in the trunk
