I have a vin checking/reasearching account for the next 3 weeks. I am offering this as a service, if you want your vin # checked for accident history, mileage, damage, ownership history or service history please PM me your vin # and send me $1 to my pay pal and I will send you a copy of the report.

Do not put your vin # in this thread.

Typically, anyone that has come across a Carfax account for 3 weeks has openly shared the information with the members here as a courtesy, and such is the nature of this site.

It'* generally accepted that members of the club who purchase a month supply of this service will extend the offer free of charge to the other members. It'* just good practice.

If he wants to ask for a dollar, that'* his decision. I'm sure he gets the point by now.

I agree that if he wants to charge, let him do it. You can't possibly know how many people have had Carfax accounts and not posted here offering them for free. With some 8,000 members, I have only seen about 3 of the Carfax for free offers here in the 14 months I have been a member. On the other had, selling the service may be a violation of the terms Carfax.

I agree that if he wants to charge, let him do it. You have absolutely no clue how many people have had Carfax accounts and not posted here offering them for free. With some 8,000 members, I have only seen about 3 of the Carfax for free offers here in the 14 months I have been a member.
theres nothing wrong with not posting it, people get alot of requests and some may not have time for it. but the people that do have it and choose to post it, buy the service for their own benefit and then are generous enough to offer it to club members. they are not out to make a profit/ make there money back for something they would have anyways.

just my $0.02

However, this has been the FIRST time in which someone has asked for money for something that anyone has publicly offered for free, regardless of how many people have had a Carfax or not.

Anyone who donates a dollar will be particpating in fraud per the carfax user agreement:

Breaking the law is fun

THE DETERMINATION OF PERSONAL USE IS AT THE SOLE DISCRETION OF CARFAX, INC. WE RESERVE THE RIGHT TO IMPOSE, AND YOU AGREE TO PAY TO CARFAX, INC., AN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF $24.99 FOR EACH CARFAX VEHICLE HISTORY REPORT THAT CARFAX, INC. DEEMS WAS ACCESSED FOR COMMERCIAL PURPOSES.

have fun paying them back 24 bucks for each member that gives you a dollar....
