Default $1,000 in repairs needed, i need a little sympathy! lol

intake manifold cracked today, cranking it fried the starter (the gear), and the engine I was told might be fried. The pressure control valve needs to get replaced in addition to the hi-beam switch piece. Almost $1,000 in total. I wonder if I should just get rid of it, I only paid $3,600 for it. THsi sucks, I need some sympathy lol it'* been quite an awful couple of days.

That truly sucks... and believe me I know how you feel. I paid $12k for my 2003 SSEi... and 700 miles later I had to replace the engine... at a cost of almost $5k.

I feel yer pain. Hang in there.

I feel for you. It seemed like i was putting a few hundred $ into mine every few months. Eventually I got to the point when I just couldn't stand putting any more $ into it.

Assuming it is a bad starter gear and not a bad flexplate...

UIM and new LIM gaskets, oil, filter, coolant - $230
Rebuilt starter - $70
New fuel pressure regulator - $47
High beam switch - junkyard - $25
Chilton'* 28200 repair manual - $18
Your time - 20 hours for $600 saved = $30/hr
Help from your friends on the Bonneville Club - priceless

If you do your own work, you are lookin' at more like $400.

If you need to replace the flexplate and the starter, add $25 more for the junkyard, $13 for a new rear crankshaft seal and a lot more work (pulling the engine.)

Got tools?
