Default VIN registry?

would there be any issues with having users register their VIN number here? that way we could see if cars are recycled, for ease of future car-buyers? could also periodically update carfax

or would this just be much hullabaloo for a service which would never be used.

First of all, you can't make it mandatory, so it would be incomplete. Secondly, some members are reluctant to post that information.

If I had you VIN I could get your name, address, and therefore your phone number quite easily and legally. I suggest people don't post their VINs online.

im a tad sceptical about this theory, aswell as the license plate online theory. They are both in plain site to the public every day, what makes the internet so much more dangerous than the public eye?

because if you tick someone off thats online in a different state and they really get pissed at you they can just look up your address and name and pay you a visit.

But what i always say to that is, Then that person can Meet my Ruger

Or if you **** someone off with a big club sticker or banner in your window, it'* easier for them to track you down and identify your car locally by plate or VIN.

Don't forget this guys and gals. If you have club stickers on your car, and are involved in an 'incident', they know how to find you online, and it'* not hard to find you locally.
