when I look at some of the smaller ones (jr, crazydriver, etc.) they are a little under half the screen in height. To me that a good size, its big enough for details, but its small enough to not disrupt post reading. You can always put a smaller pic on your sig and just keep the bigger ones for cardomain.
It'* more the KB than the physical size. Do some comparisons. Different file types are far more memory intesive than others. For instance, a bitmap and a jpg of the same physical size are totally different in KB'*.
Do some comparisons. Right click on the SSEi pic in my sig and see how big in kb it is, then compare to other peoples sigs. We may need to adopt a policy for physical size AND bit size in KB.

In all honesty, (at least my opinion) it'* not necessarily the file size of sig pics that can be annoying, but the overall size of it--for instance, on my 19" monitor, my signature takes up about 1.5 inches of vertical space (or something like 492 millimeters for people like Al)
On the other side of the spectrum, I have to scroll vertically just to see all of crazydriver'* signature (not trying to pick on you crazydriver, just happens that your sig is in this thread, and makes a easy to see example)
Maybe we need to put some sort of "height" restriction on sigs in general?
There'* at least a couple forums I frequent that have sig size restrictions--typically they ask that if you have 28 bajillion mods, make a banner-sized pic that links to your own webspace or something like that, or maybe say that it can be more than xx number of "lines" tall
Just my 2 cents worth
Jim

This is why on my Forum we've limited all Signature pics to MAx size of 50 Pixels! It was too hard to read through the posts if they were any larger than that & too slow to load the pages too! There is some exceptions there I know, but we're working on it!
I cant believe I am agreeing with Al, but 50 pixels vs. 50kb is much more reasonable. Basically, that is about the equivaIent of the avatar. If you are so proud of your car, great, but save the rest of us the band-width and include a link to your pics in your sig.
