Default Media Forum

Need a media forum to post pictures, video and sound files. The two sites below both have them.

Any other thoughts? The next forum I was considering would be the GXP/Northstar forum. This would be in preparation for the release of the GXP Bonneville, so that the search engines would already have it listed for the new owners when they go searching. It also would attract any other Northstar enthusiasts who may be able to help us over the 'learning' hump.

If we added a 'Media' forum, which section would it go in? What would it be for specifically? Details and thoughts?

I was thinking about this too. I think it would be best to have the Media Forum with streaming format, so that, especially for the dialup users, you wouldn't have to completely download the audio or video first to see/hear it. It would play while it'* downloading.

I think it should be for audio/video only. Not only would it be easier to administrate that way, but it would be easier on the server as well. In fact, if the server has a RAID setup, I'd reserve a hard drive for it, or most of one, so that the control arm in the hd isn't working overtime reading/writing.

None of the video/audio or pics are hosted here, so streaming isn't an option or a solution.

Yes, I know that. I was suggesting to start doing that. I've actually been toying with an idea of setting up a dedicated server at home for members' use. The only option for dialup users is to start a download of audio/video, then go to bed and retrieve it in the morning. With streaming format, dialup users can watch/hear as it downloads, immediately. I think I should have started a new thread like I was going to do before I saw this one, but it kinda touched on my idea.

Just an idea... *shrugs, steals away into the darkness*

That'* not a bad idea.....the biggest problem is that our server is tapped out. We also pay for space. If you wanted to set that up, with a java ftp for people, that would be AWESOME.

I just got linux running on a G3, and i have about 20 gigs free on it. I don't know how well of a connection i have uploading though, and i know they have the internet server port out (80) blocked, so i'd have to re-route, etc etc. I can (and have) hosted vids for people from time to time, but i can't do anythign long term as i need the space for myself.
