I didn't think so cause I am using 2.0.10 and you can't. usually you won't wee BIG changes added till the next BIG update which will probably be 2.0.20 or something like that.

this is a little off topic, but i recomend everyone with a board to upgrade to 2.0.11. They fixed a bunch of bugs that leave your forum open to attacks and intruders.

oh for god sakes...I dont care what version it is...

I will no longer tolerate flagrant violations of these rules, we've been over this WAY to many times now. Some people fail to remember that not all computers and internet connections are up to date, therefore its important that we are both mindful and courteous to members that cannot download images from the internet at blazing T1, or DSL speeds.

It also helps to remove thread clutter, I love images, I love graphics,. I love creativity, I do not like oversized images.

Just follow the rules...thats all I ask.

Default KISS = Keep it simple Stupid!

Let'* all breathe here. Loading Them is annoying, they have been big, but it is better then it was. One thing i don't love is how pages will resize when the pix start to load. Progressive Scan images, where it loads it at a low res, then fills in detail help with this somewhat. In light of all this, and other boards I frequent, I've jumped on the smaller is better bandwagon, kinda like a Resume'. Less is better? A sig shouldn't be a trophy case full of Air filter numbers, and drawn out info.

Check out the differences between old and new http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...804&highlight=

I don't even like that Photoshop Monster I made anymore... Granted I wouldn't list mods and use that pic at the same time, but it shows a size relationship. I'm still considering removing another line from the bottom of this current one.

KISS = Keep it simple, stupid

Upgrading a board of this size and complexity is no small task. It'* been considered many times for security issues, but probably wouldn't happen simply for a couple mods that php has.

yeah, the site is really big, and to back it up would take a lot of space.

We back it up weekly at a minimum. Each backup is over 600mb.

Bill, I have already explained this, you don't have to delete the whole SQL database, or any of that whatnot to update phpBB, it just replaces a few core files, that of which do not have anything to do with the user data [posts, PM'*, etc]. However backing up is escential .

And it'* not that simple. It takes time and effort. Mods are not plug and play, much less then new version of php. This ultimately belongs to the owner of the site, not me, Don, or Jim. It'* up to Jeff (who reads suggestions) to decide whether he feels it'* necessary to upgrade.

Even though you are only upgrading the files to the newer version I have seen where backup or no backup, the board was pretty much lost. Yes it can happen. I also realize that there are security holes with this version of the software and an upgrade for security reasons alone would be a good thing.

I don't think that much was added in the newest version except fix bugs and security holes.
