Default Default theme is an eyesore

My eyes hurt when I stare at this black-on-white theme, turning down the intensity on my monitor can only do so much. I honestly dont know how you people can stand it without wearing sunglasses. But my request, at least a temproary one, is to just descreetly install a darker theme so some of us can view these boards in a more comfortable manner without getting teary or sore eyes, such as this theme:
http://www.phpbb.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=155898

Surely installing such a theme would take little time and effort, just upload then go to CP and enable it.

It would be much appreciated, and I would also like to contribute into personalizing that theme to make it more "Bonneville" like replacing the default logo and such.

Boreas.... I can see your point and agree with you. It does get tiring on the eyes.

I've developed many web forms and have worked with several developers. All are in agreement that black text on stark white background is not appealing to the audience. Adds unecessary stress.

light colors are supposed to provide a better enviroment for a forum becuase they arent dark and dreary. with that said, the sebc has a dark theme.

Yea, so? You dont have to use the theme. I said make it an option. You can still use the current one but make an option for some of us to use an alternative.

Dark and dreary? Please, its not like the boogyman will pop out of a dark theme from your monitor. Dark themes are actually sleek and are much more easier on the eyes. Eye strain is unhealthy for you and you may not notice it.

The owner of the site has had this repeatedly suggested of him. However, the majority have always preferred the default look. His preference and the majority are the reason it'* the way it is.

Jeff is currently in Europe, so we'll give him the option after reading this topic to make whatever changes he feels necessary.

For the record, I'd probably quit the forum if it changed it'* look drastically. I'd feel naked.

The most I'd want to see changed is maybe a shade darker gray than it is now (post a pic with a white background. Ours ain't white, it'* light gray)

I got screwed up eye-bubbles, and the black on white is fine for me. The Missus hates it when I'm up late/early, and it lights up half the house, but she don't get a vote...

Guys, you are missing the point. Lets have 2 themes, this one which will be the default, and another one thats selectable in your profile:
So you like this default theme, God bless you. But lets have a second one that is selectable in your profile! Its just so damn easy. Do you understand what im trying to say or not?
