Hahaha.....OK, obviously you know how I feel on this issue....(hey, where is the poll to vote if we should see the poll).

Even before I joined BC and was just a lurker, I always liked the suspense of waiting to see who got COTM. I also liked the idea that nobody was swayed into voting for the member with the most votes, and, if a nominee got one vote (compared to say, 30 votes for all the other nominees) there would be no hard feelings or disappointments.

I guess I never really thought about the vote being rigged or tampered with (probably because I never think of BC has having such an issue), so that is a good point.

If there is a way to control the number of votes and insure the integrity of the process, then I still like the "surprise" element for COTM....just a cactus lover'* .02.

I like the idea of it being hidden until the end of the poll. Not sure how the voiting would go on a seperate server...I probably wouldn't go to another site to voite if that is what it would entail.

Another way to look at it is that fact that up until a few months ago, we didn't get to vote...it was just determined. So...yea, hide the results until the end, keeps the suspense going, keep it on BC though as opposed to another site in order to keep it "user friendly" and to prevent hackers from altering the results.

I'm not concerned about hackers.

Let me ask the question differently since there does seem to be some support from the concept. Assuming for some reason the poll mod can not or will not be installed, would you support the concept still if the only way to do it was to actually cast the vote on my server?

Leave the Poll on BC.

Mods will happen if and when there is time. Continue to voice opinions.

I like the idea of a hidden poll as well.

Even if my choice is not one of the top runners I never feel as though my vote is wasted.

I PM'd the site owner about the mod last night. He said he'd look into it. Until I get a definitive answer from him we'll stick with the way we have now.

I do. Being one that was voted in, I thought it was very cool to let the public decide, like a democracy. The pages always work, are fast, and are on time. Hats off to you pal.

Aaron, you have done a splendid job picking this up and appreciate the enthusiasm you have brought. Also, appreciate that you are open to suggestions like mine and have really given COTM the attention it deserves.
