Default what do we know about fuel pressure regualtors?

If youve kept up wit my post "ok maybe not the coupler" u will know I'm hvn car probs. I went to Autozone agn today for a free scan and still no luck. Beside tht I havent had a c/e light in couple dys anyway but I stppd by the AC Delco shop down the street from me to ask opiinion on prob and owner feels it may be the fuel pressure regualtor, he said take off the vacuum hose and if it'* fuel in it its bad. This was aftr I described my symtom of loud idle, dragging engine, fuel smell inside and out of car and only getting abt 10mpg. if that much. Does the whole fuel rail have to come off to take out fuel regulator and is it that unit that has the hose going to the map sensor?

I am not familiar with Series I L67'* at all, but I would have to guess that if it has a vacuum line running to it, that it is the FPR.
