Unknown... feels great and ran great. For the price of oil, I'd use it until it shows signs of a problem.

Any suggestions then on how to work with the fully threaded bolt from Intense? I ordered it a couple of weeks ago and I was going to try my hand at this swap on the weekend.

Also, I read a quote on another thread around here that "If you ask a mechanic who'* never done a pulley pull but says he can handle it no problem...stay away and find someone else or do it yourself".

Um, I'm no mechanic. I mean, I have bolted on some basic performance parts on a big block (high intake, headers etc) some 20 years ago but, again I have no mechanical training. I'm I "in over my head" here?

What other kinds of problems might I encounter (notice that I have to remove the fuse box and overflow container etc..). I was planning on doing the swap to an INTENSE MPS 3.4 while out at the lake, but now wonder whether I might even strand myself out there if something goes bad.

BTW - I know I can run the car w/o the SC -- been w/o my SC running for a couple of weeks already without any problems other than slightly poorer gas mileage.

I also know to do the work on a COLD engine (and to possibly consider warming up the pulley with a torch to expand it a bit)

above link shows picture of what I purchased. Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't see a fully threaded bolt in there...so I don't understand how the problem above might have occured. Unless Intense had modified their pulley puller parts since the above problem occured....

Comments?

don't do that you can do damage
Squirrel, where'd you hear that from? No damage will occur on a Series 2. Maybe you're confusing him with a Series 1 L67 that has the same belt for the water pump and SC?

S2 L67 can run without.
S1 L67 cannot.

I wouldn't if you don't absoultely have too

My belt shreaded on me in N.C. and I had to drive back to GA. The */C got hot enough to point that stuff (friggin' hot oil I'd guess) was spitting out of the breather cap.

No gut'* either - only time I ever used the slow lane

Golf..I wouldn't be concerned using the Intense Puller. They have proven it out and it works well. Follow the instructions to the letter and you should have no issues.

BillBoost:

You were right -- thanks. It was too easy. I just got back from the lake and the swap went off w/o a hitch!

Man, nice to get the */c back, and now with a 3.4 -- very nice improvement...she really 'goes' now!!

On to the next mod!
