I really think twin charging is cool, but I'm not that desperate......Plus I've got one of those detroit twin charged 6-71'*, and i'm not too impressed with it. No low end power at all, but boy, when she gets wound up.....

If I understand correctly the Detroit Diesels use the supercharger to get the engine running since it has four exhaust valves and side ports for the air intake (no valves and it is a two stroke design). It cannot run without the supercharger to push air into the engine. On the turbo/supercharged models, a bypass opens after the turbo spools up and it runs on the turbocharger, which has more flow and boost pressure capacity.

It is a dual intercooled M90/Turbo setup. And to how it performs - Zoomer just did a setup like this on his car and ran a 10.25 @ 137 mph.

I know it can be done. A Bonnie in the 9'*. 9.2@ 155mph. Supercharged, twin turbo, and intercooled SSEi.
