Only picture I could find. The breather as it'* called is a solid cap screwed into the end of the snout on the outside of the pulley. It looks like a bolt ...but is more of a cap.

I could not get a good picture of the leak because of lighting.

I dried off the pulley and cap and by the time I got home (30 miles), there was already a drip off the bottom of the pulley and the cap was wet. My guess is that a drip falls off the bottom of the pulley about 3-4 times in an hour.

I understand where the brether cap is now, but can't decide if the leak is coming from the cap or the seal. I guess I need to just replace both. Can you get a replacement breather cap? I have 120K miles on the car, so I should probably replace the bearings while I am at it.

Intense sells a re-maned snout with a Vitron seal for only $50. For the cost and headache of rebuilding my snout (no access to presses), it might just be worth it to buy one from them.

If you have no oil leaks BEHIND the pulley, forget the seal.

I'd agree on the seal, but still wonder about the cap.

Changing the nosedrive should cure the problem. The cap is a solid piece that screws into the end. When putting an aftermarket pulley system on.. people receive a plastic plug, like the one that holds your trunk lid insulator on.. there'* no sealing at all from the breather that I can find. nor in any pictures I have do I see a relief hole in the shaft of the supercharger nosedrive.

I will try to get the cap off tonight and see if that tells me anything. I will also plug the hole and see if that stops the flow.

I am glad to hear you say that my seal should be OK.

Unless there is an oil leak between the pulley and the snout seal, you're ok there.

I took off the breather cap/bolt, which did not really tell me much about the leak. when I put it back on, I torqued it pretty tight in hopes that it was just lose and caused the leak.

When I took off the breather bolt I saw that the center of the bolt is not solid. The center is made of pourous metal, which allows for air to sift through. Now I see how it works. . . .

I haven't had a chance to check the bolt since I tightened it. Hopefully it was just lose and the leak has stopped. I will keep checking it.

I wonder why oil is pushing through the porus material.

BWren.. do you suppose the seals in the rotor plate could be that bad, that he'* pushing decent pressure in the nosedrive?
