Default SC rotors have color?

Installed my ZZP coupler yesterday and discovered two things:

1.) Supercharger oil is supposed to be clear?!?! Good thing I flushed the entire nose and cleaned it out with TB cleaner.

2.) The supercharger rotors actually have a color! After lots and lots of cleaner I discovered that they were aluminum in color...who would have thunk it?

All in all it appears all is working fine and I'm glad I was able to clean all that gunk out (she needed it), there was just 1 bolt couldn't torque down correctly...but I should be ok. :?

The rotors are coated with Teflon to keep carbon buildup to a minimum. You shouldn't have cleaned to the point that you saw BRIGHT aluminum. This would indicate a total loss of teflon.

I can show you pics of the comparison. My boss'* M62 is sitting at my desk at work with teflon coming off the rotors.

I used TB cleaner, same stuff I've spray through the TB time and time again. The color was not "bright" Bill but rather a dull grayish and I don't think I took the Teflon off because people have used brake cleaner in the past and that stuff is EVIL.

Sounds like you're ok. But for the record, brake cleaner WILL remove the teflon. That'* how my boss did it. He ran out of TB cleaner and grabbed the wrong can.

I'll swing by my desk at work and shoot some pics to post here.

No no, I know brake cleaner is bad for the rotors considering its BRAKE cleaner and not THROTTLE cleaner.

Don't scare me like that old man! I used TB cleaner...

I know, dammit, but you're the one that brought the subject up!

You wanna see pics of the delaminating teflon?

Yeah it was kind of neat seeing bright shiny aluminum color when I got mine. Ahh the wonders of not having teflon on my year :?
