S/c Buying Used Help Pls!
I'm looking at a 94 SSEi M62 and TB. It is a long distance deal and the yard says that it makes a slight noise on shut down. Is there a known cause? Coupler? Rebuild required?
I won't be able to personally see it before buying. It is going on a 92 L67 using the 92 pulley.
Any thoughts are welcome.

My advice? 3 words:
DON'T BUY IT.
Reasons:
1. I would never buy a SC without being able to personally inspect it, especially if I knew it already had problems.
2. The upgrade to a 94/95 SC and TB on a 92/93 is NOT a piece of cake, and probably only worth it if you're planning on spending alot of time at the track. Plan on spending at least an extra 200 on a ZZP Mini-AFC controller to get a working MAF.
3. You can probably get the same level of performance by simply changing your SC pulley to a 2.2", and working over your intake and exhaust, which you should do anyway.
Was I convincing? Making noise at shutdown is a new one on me, and it sounds scary. I'm thinking rotor clash. A bad coupler will make noise at idle, but I doubt you'd hear it at shutdown.

I agree with Willwren. If you're going thru all the trouble to replace it get a known good SC. I have also heard of others trying to swap SC'* between those years and they ran into tons of problems. This wont be a direct swap.
Out of curiosity, what is wrong with your current SC?

If these can't convince you here, maybe I can.......
The 92/93 SC used a different sized bore on the TB. It was smaller than the 94/95, therefore it had to turn faster to make up for the compression ratio.
A used SC is just that USED! Or should I say in this case ABUSED! I buy & sell SC'* all the time. Believe me when I say you can get a rebuilt one WITH a warranty for cheaper than buying a used one & then fixing it up.
