premium is what, 10 cents more? thats about $2 more, i dont think its going to break anyones wallet.

GM dosent say "premium fuel only" for no reason

Knocking, pinging, and detonation are BAD BAD BAD for your motor. You can't hear it, but the PCM can detect it and retard timing, which kills performance AND efficiency. So you're damaging your motor over time, AND paying more for fuel in the long run because your efficiency is down.

You'll actually do better financially and mechanically by running the premium these engines were designed for.

cool, thanks. i had no idea-a buddy of mine asked, but i said i never heard i was supposed to , so i just used regular-i do get bad gas mileage though(may be unrelated). next time i fill, i'm gonna have to remember to get premium, thanks again.

Your fuel mileage will increase with the right octane. But that might not be the only problem.

If running 91 or 92 octane for at least two tands doesn't improve your mileage to at least 25mpg on the hiway, check back with us in th 92-99 forum.

I had read that post previously. It was indeed somewhat discouraging. :( I have read others posts as well, that say this kit will work just fine though. So I am confused.. :?

What do you think Willwren?... Do you believe this kit will be a viable option on its own, or will the vehicle require further extensive alterations?

That'* an Old techinfo. I know of 2 L27'* (series 1) who are going to do this conversion this year, I'll be attempting it sometime spring/summer, if all goes well. In theory it should be easier on the series 1. Hopefully a relatively easy guide can be made.

The L36 has that kit being developed right now, it'* ZZP'* top priority.

Key info:

2 L27'* GOING to. Hasn't been done, and there is some risk. And alot more expense than siimply trading up for an SSEi.

ZZP'* kit.....not done, still finding problems. If they say it works (when it'* done), it will. But is the expense worth it?

Both applications will be low-boost, and will cost you some lifetime in your trans unless you plan for that too.
