Default powder coat and port?

I was cruising the classifieds at another site and I saw a gen 3 blower that had been ported for sale. My question is with the ported charger in question is powdercoated wouldn't that be worse for you then a stock charger. I am new to the boost world so please be nice and I did search but I couldn't find a suitable answer. also if you were to powdercoat a gen V wouldn't that reduce it to about the same as a ported Gen 3 with no powdercoating. If this is in the wrong section feel free to move it. any insight would be greatly appreciated

Why would you paint it in the first place?
