Yes. No.
It needs changed every 50k or so. Any mechanic will NOT have the proper oil. They will try to put motor oil in it, if they can even figure out how to get to the oil. GM sells a specific animal-fat based oil that is the only thing you should use.
The plug in your 93 will be a 4.5MM allen wrench.
