If I am not mistaken the lower pully drives only the S/C. Maybe both the accesory pully and S/C lower pulley are one unit, but you could still make the S/C pully bigger without affecting the other accesories. I also think that the lower pulley is only held on by bolts to the Harmonic Balancer. I don't think that the H/B would have to be removed. Some one correct me if I am wrong.

That's not true at least for the Series 1. It shares the pulleys.
|
I know for a fact that on my 00 there is a seperate belt for the S/C.
|
But doesn't it also drive either the power steering or the AC?
|
I have to be honest I am not completly sure, I seem to remember it only driving the S/C. I could very well be wrong.

I don't have a Series II L67 handy to peek at. Can someone else check? One belt on mine drives the SC, water pump, and AC compressor. The other drives the Alt and PS pump.
Overdriving the water pump is bad news, that's why ZZP has an underdrive (larger) pulley for that. Even at stock setup, the water pump can cavitate, cutting down efficiency. Zoomer found by underdriving and slowing down the water pump, it became more efficient (and the engine gained about 5hp if I recall). |
It looks like just the SC...it wraps around a few holder pulleys but they dont look like the drive anything...
The waterpump, alternator, and steering pump are on their own belt... -- Rogue |
There is an accessory belt and the Supercharger belt. The supercharger belt has ONLY the supercharger running off of it. It has the crank pulley, 2 idler pullies, a tensioner and the supercharger. The accessory belt on the SII L67 is identical to the one on the L36, then they just add the other belt for the blower.
I would much rather change the supercharger pulley than the crank pulley. For the main reason that it is much easier to get to. Besides, once you put on a modular pulley system it takes 2 minutes to change pullies and then it is really easy. |
Thankds guys. Good to know the differences in the drive systems between the 2 Series. dbtk.......you'd rather change the SC pulley? Even after all that shit a couple weeks ago?
That was an uncharacteristic freaking mess! |
