Whining about intake for '92 ssei
I know this is whining, but I haven't been able to find a good, off the shelf intake system made for a 92 ssei. Most of the web sites have them for rice boxes. Is this a strictly do it yourself project?

It was tuned specificly for our cars so it has the most performance gain. Throw your name up on the list in the Performance thread if you want in. We need to make a demand so he'll produce again. People burnt him out.

Well first of all, it looks like people are not too happy with his service, so I am not so sure I would be running to the Angry Duck any time soon.
If this thing is so "tuned" then someone who has one should document what it is, so others can duplicate it. It can't be that complicated..... a tube with some bends at certain places. I could make a drawing if I had one in my hand. Unless it is patented, anyone can make one.
And how was it "tuned", do you know ?
Also, as long as we are on this subject, do any of these intake pipes have some method of support at the filter end, or do they just sort of hang out there?

i made my own intake system for my 92 ssei. have it so that it rests on top of the air ride pump. when its in the air box i made, it is very sturdy!!!!!!
one thing that works very well too. INSULATE THE TUBE.
i checked my IAT before and after i insulated it. it dropped 40*. this tells me that insulating it was a very good idea

The pipe diameter and bend angles were tuned. Both on the bench and on 2 cars. The intake needs no support. It 'hangs' as you mentioned.

Sorry....your original question.....
Mine whines like a mother when it winds up. I'm running a smaller pulley and an ADTR intake/cone with custom heatshield, so it pulls MOST of it'* air from behind the headlight.
I blew past my sister and her husband last week on the freeway doing 100 once, and 80mph the second time, both at WOT. He said it was a 'remarkable' sound, even with his windows rolled up. One of these days, I'll try to record it from inside the car. Or have someone record it as I go by.
