intercooler
How come no one uses refrigerant as a cooling medium in a intercooler? The only draw back maybe excessive water in the intake track.Maybe this would help with detonation. With some time I THINK I could make this work. What do you guys think.
I know there have been experiments with it on other cars.
You just use the IC as the evaporator for the AC system.
This is not as easy as it sounds and you are using an estimated 10 to 15 Hp to drive the AC compressor. (Any one going to a dyno willing to get actual numbers?)
The little I have seen indicates that the complexity is not worth any gains, if there are any.

All intercoolers have a heat exchanger some were in the system. If you were intercooling a roots blower the intercooler would have to be in the intake manifold.thats were the heat exchanger would be.In a water to air intercooler cool water is pump thru cooper and aluminum. This removes the heat from the air that gets hot from being compressed.kinda like a central air system in a house.I want to use the refrigerant from the cars ac system to run thur a heat exchanger to cool the air.If I can get the intake air cool enough fast enough it will cause condinastaion. This would also help with knock.MAYBE.....
