The pattern I see here is that all the guys that have this " issue " are 1992 SSEI'*.
Maybe it is particular to that year model ? Must be the PCM then.
I do feel better knowing you guys have the same deal going on.
It just feels like GM was WAY too conservative on some programming in certain areas.
You only get a taste of what the car can really do after about 4000 RPM'*.

Getting there is like :(

Nope, mine does the exact same thing, too. Except, I don't always notice it. It seems it doesn't happen everytime. I have just ordered the Jet chip though, so I will let you know if that takes it away.

My 95 SSEi also does this, it is stock though.

It seems like it just gets more power, and the engine even sounds meaner and you can almost physically feel it grab, sometimes if its WOT, it will have less pull then it did at about 3/4. Its weird, but ive learnt my car and know how to get the best acceleration now. But still id like to overcome this issue, whether it be a problem or not. (Its a problem for me!!)

I fixed mine today by mistake. I unplugged the IAT sensor and drove around for awhile and now i get awesome down low power, it doesn't feel like its holding back anymore. Could be a fluke, but it worked for me.

It won't last. Your O2 and PCM are smart enough to gradually make up the difference. You're running rich, but the PCM will fix that soon. What you did has nothing to do with the subject being discussed here. You just gained a temporary 5hp to make you feel you fixed it.

Exactly. The only time doing this might help is at the track or something, when the PCM doesn't have long enough to figure out somethings not right.

I truly feel like the only way to " fix " it is to replace the chip in the PCM.
It does sem like this is more prevalent in the early transaxled cars rather than the later ones. Maybe it was GM'* way of saving the transaxle.

That'* exactly what it was. Very intentional on GM'* part. And it eventually cost me my trans

I'll have a picture of the hole in my trans later today possibly.

Yep. My '93 SSEi did this as well. Maybe Kenn can pipe in here and see if she still does it. I suspected the PCM change would fix it, but never got around to putting the chip in.
