is this hard to do and what oil is would people here suggest? Would I be better off taking it to a shop and having them do it and if so what would be the aprox cost?
It'* easy. The hardest part is dealing with the smell of the old oil.
On my 92 and 94 SC'*, a 4.5mm allen wrench is needed for the oil plug. Then siphon the old oil out. A baster or something should work to suck it out. Put in fresh oil to the bottom of the treads of the hole. You will need a little more than a bottle, probably. Buy a few extra if you want to flush it with clean oil a time or two.

It'* very very easy to do. You just need something to suck the old oil out.

Cheers,
gmparsdirect.com has the oil for $3.95 bottle plus shipping. The part # is 12345982. List is $6.92 at your local dealer who should have some in stock. gmpartsdirect is cheaper but it takes about two weeks to get your order and thier shipping is a little pricey.
