The gatorback belt I put on seems to have jumped track, and it tore up the belt pretty bad. I just wanted to make sure that I have the pulley on correctly. Currently I have the offset to the outside. Is this the way others have put it on? Will? :?

You should have the recessed face of the pulley facing out.

Okay, great thanks. The pulley is oriented correctly. I put the new belt on it, took it around the block and ruined another belt. It jumped track again. It looks like the pulley is sitting a strong 1/16" to a shy 1/8" too far to the inside (toward the SC). Is there supposed to be a spacer in there? Is there an easy way to tell which pulley is off? I didn't have this problem until I replaced the SC pulley and the oversized idler. I'm thinking about putting a washer behind the pulley, to act as a spacer. I dunno. Any ideas?

Put the old idler back in maybe? It'll slip more with RPM play? How was the belts tightness, does everything look EXACTLY lined up from above?

I know my pulley isn't far enough on the shaft, so it is a little out of line, and I've got the oversized tensioner, but no belt problems.

I don't know if you can still put one of the old ones back on anymore, but just start it, let it idle, and watch it. If nothing happens, tap the TB, see what'* going on.

Thinking about using a washer. Any other ideas?

If you're sure about being off, by all means use a washer. Have you compared to your original pulley yet? Can you post pics? Is the damage always to the outside (away from the SC) of the belt?

Okay, so far so good. I got a 5/8" washer that is approximately 3/32" thick, used a hack saw to cut an 1/8" notch for a keyway, and put it behind the pulley. This pulled the pulley away from the SC just a tad, and put it right in line with the other pulleys. Seems to be working great so far.

The only concern I have at this point, since I can just barely see the washer, is if it'* getting hot due to any friction. Is the washer spinning with the shaft? And since it'* up againts the housing, is it rubbing? Will it get hot enough to fuse to the shaft? That would suck. I'll just have to wait and see. I do know one thing, it'* not getting red hot, so I should be okay.
