Well.......funny you should ask......I think it started with, "Hey were is all that smoke coming from?" And then Oh crap the car is on fire. The cigarette lighter shorted out and decided it would catch on fire and melt then entire dash wiring harness all the way to the end. And the way to get to it? Dashectomy. Luckily I got to it fast enough to get the fire put out. The flames were pretty big. This was a very unexpected event and now I am without a car that I absolutely need. I have to find the wiring harness to replace the whole thing and I hope Ed Morad has one. I have no idea how I am going to pay for this because I just paid tuition for $6,500 for my last quarter of school and I am now broke. I have to have a car but this is going to cost me. Why is it that everything that goes wrong with this car cost me money?

Why didn't the fuse blow and protect the circuit from fire? Do you use your lighter in the car for anything? How did you put out the fire? Were you driving at the time or parked?

That view of the dash has me looking real hard as I have a very annoying rattle in the top near the air vents on the pass side, but from that series of pics I can't determine what it may be. Perhaps you can suggest something since you were there taking that all apart.

Hope she gets all back together for you and dosen't rattle or clang! Good luck!

thats what i was thinking but all it takes is a Wire to be a little smaller then the fuse and then poof it will over heat in a short and start smoking
