Default trunk release?

My SE is pretty much as base of a model as it gets and I have no trunk release inside but I noticed a couple wires going to the trunk latch..did they possibly just leave the button off the models without a trunk release?Would it be possible to hook one up easily?

I thought the wires may have been to indicate that the trunk was open so I cranked her up and opened the trunk but nothing happened with the indicators..so it must be for a release solenoid?

they also left off the release mechanism. they can be had at your local junkyard.

if you went to the jy and picked up a remote release latch from a car that had one, it would plug into it. the wire is already in the harness, so they just run it, but don't plug it into anything.

probably part of a standard wiring harness. They go to/come from the trunk release button that (yours probably doesn't have) is in the driver'* side door. Like said above, the actual release mechanism, the door button and the trunk lock out (these are probably the wires you saw) button are all probably missing on your car, but can easily be gotten at a junkyard.

If you don't have easy access to junkyard, there are a number of members here that go often. Just post your needs in the "wanted" section. I actually have an extra door button and lock out switch you could get, but i would have to make my next yard run to get a release mechanism for you (the one that goes in the trunk lid).

are you talking about the piece on the trunk lid (part that goes up and down) or the piece that the trunk lid closes on?
