several times a day while I'm driving the car the security light will come on for 1-2 seconds then go out, followed by a chime....

any ideas where to start?

You installed an Aeroforce

Pat will have a good answer for you if you can meanwhile unhook the Aeroforce to ensure that when it'* unhooked that the problem doesn't occur.

i had the security light issue with the Aeroforces

so if you read the Aeroforce Box you will read that some of the 2003 and newer GM Trucks, and the Corvette experience "dash lights" when the Aeroforce is installed, this is becasue the Data bus system in the car dosent like being scanned

the correct fix is to set the data rate of the Aeroforce to 3 or higher.

I did this and it fixed my intermittend Security light

I threw out the box and manual i think....

I believe the data rate is on 5 right now....I will doublecheck when i get off work.

Quickest check is to run with it unplugged for a little while. It the problem no longer persists..it'* the Aeroforce.

I have mine set on 1 so the shift light works and I don't get any chiming.....never did.

unplugged tha aeroforce...i still get intermittnet dinging and a security light that goes on for a second?

Check for codes with the power tuner.

Is your 2000 a 2003+ ? Somebody didn't read everything.
