My angel eye went out and I see that the L.E.D. need a resistor to make them work. I have a resistor with the following colors

red
yellow
maroon
gold

what is the value in ohms i will need to make the eye light up again?

also what makes the resistors go bad??

What'* the third band? Ya got Black. Brown, Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Silver and Gold to choose from...

yea I knew that there were only thoes colors to choose from but the third band is not one of thoes colors

possibly a really faded orange??

red means 2
yellow means 4
orange means *1K
gold means 5% tolerance.

I can't for the life of me remember what ya do with the first two colors... i think it'* *...

how/why do the resistors go bad?

brown is *10

getting banged around, gettin too hot, being near me...

I did notice that the resistor was hot ,does that mean that it is the wrong ohms
