Ok, I'm back from camping. I missed finding this thread on the way because my friend's computer is in awful shape. Sorry :( .

I think Boosty may have hit the nail on the head in his last post above, regarding the cartridge.

John, I don't see that you mentioned what cartridge you'd gotten. It has to be the Actron CP9111 GM cartridge. I'm doubting very seriously that any thing else will work, but I'm not totally sure of that. (my big problem is that I haven't gotten an Actron CP9110 scanner for myself, because I know I would be bidding up our own club members on eBay).

Naturally, I may have wired the second cable wrong too. But it would be odd that I'd do it twice in a row with the same member. I've apparently gotten the five other cables I've sent out to members wired ok. And I do check and double check for both continuity and schematic logic on each one. But........ Anyway John, maybe post back to here regarding Boosty's question and then we can take it from there with PMs

Well, 88bonnsse has the correct cartridge, the Actron CP9110. It really points to the two cables, and I've asked him to keep checking them, very specifically.

Meanwhile, I'm going to get the Actron cp9110 set or two from Tradervar on eBay so I can set up a working unit on my '94 and then be able to send that unit out to John so he can mix and match and get something working.

(If anyone would want to send out a unit in the meantime to John (East Coast), I'm sure that would be greatly appreciated. But I'm still going to go ahead and get my own units(Hans sold his I think, right?))

On ebay, I am cskjold5x4x, so that we can avoid bidding wars, whoever's reading this :) .

hi slug i bought my actron scanner from the same guy yo umentioned but i went to his website and bought it with my creditcard just to be safe because i dont have paypal..

anyway i cantacted them and they gave me the # for actron's service tech line. so i called actron and they guided me on how to test the scanner itself and they said it seems to be working fine. especially if it's working on my 88sse...

the actron tech guy on the phone was puzzled on how a snapon scanner from pepboys worked on my car but theres wont... being how it worked on my 88sse

That's good to know. Probably what I'll do, then.

(One wonders how long these little Actron wonders are going to be around at these fairly low prices. Members who are thinking about one should probably go ahead while "tradervar" still has some.)(No, I'm not his brother-in-law or anything  )
