It is the trip that is giving me fits it worked when I bought the car, then I filled it with gas pushed it in, it zeroed, and stuck. And now it will not work. Actually it rolls backward, but just the hundred mile number. This has no effect on the actual mileage meter.

Based on the alternator post you just made, I'd suggest replacing your alternator and battery first. Then see if this is still a problem.

It is an SE car Non digital dash? And I just replaced the alternator for the 6th time tonight.

well i had my cluster apart to fix this problem a year ago, and tel me tell you what happens. See the gears are really brittle and break causing the numbers not to turn, My car has been like this for over 3 years now, the only way to fix it is get gears from a junkyard and replace them, and there is no guarntee that they will last too
